What is this?

This is a collection of my photos of Gummersbach. I am a photographer and photos have undergone some editing which has some impact on the style and feel of the photos.

Why am I doing this?

When I originally came to Gummersbach, I wasn't able to find any information about Gummersbach, and it was not possible to use Google streetview to view the area. Photography is a hobby of mine, and I wanted to start a project and decided I would photograph Gummersbach in the hopes that it would be useful or informative for people that might be considering moving here. The reason the streetview coverage is so poor in Germany is that when Google began taking photos on the streets of Germany, the government decided that Google must accept requests to censor people's properties, and must carry this out. Google started with a small area but found this time consuming when clearly the public didn't want this, and so they stopped streetview in Germany. So using Google Maps or Bing Maps it isn't possible to get a feel for many places in Germany, except for the places people photograph and then share their photos online. So I am sharing photos of Gummersbach for your use and entertainment. I also enjoy seeing how much places and buildings change, so I hope that they might be interesting at some time in the future to look back on how much has or hasn't changed from the every day places. I enjoy photography and try to make photos interesting, but I am also trying to post regular photos of regular places to capture how they are.
